
On November 11, 2021, Departmental Committee of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Library & Publications held its first Introductory meeting to discuss the points related to development of Chamber Monthly Bulletin and to adopt digitization in Library by using Library Management System for facilitation of Members of SCCI. It was resolved to add more valuable and useful information in Chamber’s magazine for members of SCCI.

Flt. Lt. Tahir Farooq , Deputy Commissioner Sialkot visited Sialkot Chamber on November 09, 2021 and following points were discussed in the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner shared the progress on mega development projects being executed under the PICIIP program in the city. He shared that the project got delayed due to slackness of the Contractor for which necessary warning had been issued. The DC mentioned that project would be completed on priority basis to provide relief to the citizens. The Deputy Commissioner informed that construction of Pasrur road was pending/stopped due to some hurdles i.e. shifting of GEPCO poles whereas, payment for shifting poles had been made. President Chamber requested to expedite the work. He shared that upgradation/renovation of Jinnah Stadium had been started. He also shared that Beautification and upgradation work of Ramtalai and Sheikh Moula Baksh Talab had been initiated in which state of the art sports facilities would be provided for general public. He informed that first phase of the project of construction of Aiman Abad road had been completed. Moreover, construction of 7.5 KM of Aiman Abad Road in Second Phase had been approved and tender would soon be issued. It would be connected with motorway in the upcoming phases. Traffic problems of the city were also discussed and President Sialkot Chamber stressed to resolve the issues of traffic as people were in great distress due to traffic jams and road blocks. Mian Imran Akbar, President Sialkot Chamber said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had banned the unregistered motorcycle-rickshaws. In this regard, he requested the Deputy Commissioner for implementation of the decision in letter and spirit. The President shared that the labour from South Punjab was observed to be leaving the factories and engaging in other professions i.e. Rikshaw driving and Fruit stalls. He said that the issue had led to increase in encroachment on roads and shortage of labour in factories. The President Sialkot Chamber asked about the status of construction of overhead bridge of Defence Road. The DC shared that in this regard funds had been released and hoped that it would be completed soon. President Sialkot Chamber said that Punjab Safe City project should be launched in Sialkot as initiated in other cities of Pakistan. The Deputy Commissioner assured full cooperation in this regard. Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar shared that significant work on cargo container terminal from Wazirabad to Karachi had been done and requested cooperation of the District Government in this project. The Deputy Commissioner assured his full support for the completion of Ring Road and other projects/matters which were discussed in the meeting. He also assured that all necessary measures would be implemented to resolve the issues highlighted by the President Sialkot Chamber.

On November 09, 2021, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosted a Cake Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the 144th birth anniversary of the “Poet of the East” Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal at Iqbal Manzil Sialkot to commemorate his contributions for the Muslims of the subcontinent. During the occasion, Senior Vice President, Vice President and Executive Committee SCCI paid homage to Allama Muhmmad Iqbal and said that he has rendered great services for the promotion of Muslim cause by infusing a revolutionary spirit in them. Now, it is our responsibility to play our role in the building of the nation while exploring thoughts of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

On November 8, 2021, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, Federal Tax Ombudsman visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry for an awareness session on “FTO’s Relief providing Mechanism” for information of the Business Community of Sialkot. President, SCCI thanked Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah for establishment of FTO Desk in Sialkot Chamber. President Chamber also highlighted important issues faced by Tax Payers of Sialkot including Pending Appeal Effect & Deferred Cases, Pendency of Refund Claims and abolition of Sindh Infrastructure Development Cess. Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah assured his full support in immediate resolution of matters mentioned by President, SCCI. Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmad Warraich, Advisor Incharge FTO delivered presentation on Objectives and Mandate of Federal Tax Ombudsman. He also mentioned the Mobile application App CMIS for Online Registration of Complaints in FTO portal. Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah also presented copy of his new book to President, SCCI. Ms. Ambreen Ahmad Tarar, Collector of Custom, Sialkot, Ahmad Kamal, Commissioner (IR) and Executive Committee, SCCI were also present during the meeting.

On November 08, 2021, An Inauguration Ceremony of "Federal Tax Ombudsman Desk” was held in Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the facilitation of members of SCCI. Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, Federal Tax Ombudsman and President, SCCI inaugurated the FTO Facilitation Desk. Ms. Ambreen Ahmad Tarar, Collector of Customs Sialkot, Senior Vice President, Vice President and Executive Committee, SCCI were also present during the ceremony.

On November 5, 2021, the Departmental Committee on TMA & Excise, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry held its 1st meeting to discuss the matters pertaining to TMA and Excise. Mr. Rana Nadeem Ahmad, Chairman Committee said that people of Sialkot are facing issues of Traffic blocking due to wandering animals and Heavy Truck Traffic. It was resolved to take up this matter to DC Sialkot Office.

On November 04, 2021, Ms. Ambreen Ahmad Tarar, Collector of Customs Sialkot visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry for an Interactive session with business community of Sialkot. President, SCCI warmly welcomed the Guest and highlighted important issues faced by Exporters of Sialkot concerning to Custom Department including Audit Objection, Duty Drawback Claims in One Custom, Approval of Input/Output Formula in Temporary Importation Scheme. President Chamber requested Ms. Ambreen Ahmad Tarar to Nominate a Focal Person from Custom Sialkot to resolve issues related to Pakistan Single Window and to organize awareness sessions on Export Facilitation Scheme to educate exporters of Sialkot. Ms. Ambareen Ahmad Tarar assured her full support in resolution of afore-mentioned issues.

On November 03, 2021, A Trade delegation of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry led by Mr. Khuram Aslam, Former Senior Vice President, SCCI visited Istanbul Chamber. During the meeting, Views were exchanged on enhancing the mutual trade relations by exchanging trade delegations, participating in trade fairs and organizing business conference between both countries with the aim to increase business activities.

On November 3, 2021, Mr. Sami Ullah Khan, a legendary Field Hockey Player renowned as “The Flying Horse” visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Mr. Sami has been awarded with the Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan in 1983 and 2014 respectively. President, SCCI welcomed Mr. Sami Ullah Khan and appreciated his efforts in reviving the Golden Tenure of Pakistan National Sport Hockey in Pakistan. While addressing the audience, Senior Vice President, SCCI paid a tribute to Mr. Sami Ullah Khan and said that many of Pakistan’s victories in the time when Samiullah Khan was a part of the team came through his brilliant performance Vice President, SCCI also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Sami Ullah Khan in developing the state-of-the-art Khan (Trust) Eye Hospital in Bahawalpur for prevention of suffering caused by blindness and other eye problems. Mr. Sheikh Zahid Hameed, Chairman, Departmental Committee on Garrison and gave a presentation on his achievements.

On November 02, 2021, President, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed Mirza Fawad Ali, Senior Director Commercial, DHL Pakistan and Mr. Usman Wali, Senior Director Operations, DHL Pakistan on their visit to The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry. President Sialkot Chamber highlighted the various impediments faced by the business community of Sialkot, including radical increase in freight charges, lag in lead time, volumetric measurement adjustments, addition of miscellaneous surcharges, unjustified import duties and various other affairs as reported to Sialkot Chamber precedingly. The President, SCCI requested Mr. Fawad to provide practical solutions to the problems faced by the exporters of Sialkot and also to introduce special package for SMEs to remain competitive in the international markets by reducing freight charges and increasing the quality of the service provided by DHL to export Sector in Sialkot. President, SCCI also appreciated the support rendered by DHL Express to exporters carrying small to large volume of shipments and delivering the export consignments even during the peak of Covid-19 to support economy and facilitate exporters of the country. The meeting was attended by office bearers, members of executive committee SCCI and key business personnel of Sialkot.
