On July 15, 2021, Honorable Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Industries, Commerce and Investment visited SCCI to interact with business community of Sialkot. Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, President, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, Mr. Ansar Aziz Puri , Vice President SCCI welcomed the Minister and officials of Government of Punjab. Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awaz, Special Assistant to CM on Information and Ch. Muhammad Akhlaq, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Special Education also graced the event. Mr. Usman Dar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs also joined the meeting through zoom.
On July 14, 2021, A delegation of Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) led by Mr. Shafqatullah Siddiqui, Director General, TDAP (Engineering & Mineral Division) visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, President, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President and Mr. Baber Iqbal, Chairman of SCCI Departmental Committee on Surgical /Dental/Veterinary/ Cutlery and Kitchenware Industry received the guests. During the meeting, many issues related to Medical Device Regulation (MDR) faced by Surgical sectors of Sialkot were presented to TDAP officials.
On July 13, 2021, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with E-Commerce Galaxy organized an intensive Seminar on “E-Commerce, Amazon, Payoneer, and usage of SEO Tools” to educate the existing as well as new exporters of Industry of Sialkot regarding the dynamics of selling their products on E-Commerce platforms mainly Amazon, Ebay. Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar appreciated the efforts of Ms. Aisha Moriani and her team for working in getting Made in Sialkot products recognized on Amazon. An (MOU) was also signed between SCCI and E-commerce Galaxy for future collaborations. Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, SCCI also graced the event. Ms. Azka Ameen, Assitant Registrar SECP gave an introductory presentation regarding company incorporation with SECP using online portal. Team E-commerce Galaxy gave a detailed presentation on various aspects of working on Amazon for SME. Ms. Affaf Noor, Partnerships Manager Payoneer explained the audience about the payment gateway and integration with various ecommerce and freelancing platforms. Ms Ayesha Moriani, Senior Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Dr Shahzad Yousaf, City of London College, Mr. Urfan Yaqub, Co Founder & Director E-Commerce Galaxy and his whole team, Mr. Kumail Nadeem, Deputy Registrar SECP. Mr. Mohsin Muzafar, Country Head Payoneer & his team and Mr. Hassan Shah, Cordinator Ministry of Commerce’s Think Tank on Amazon and representatives from Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) briefed the audience regarding various dynamics of E-Commerce and Issues faced by sellers during account creation and product listing were also discussed and relevant solutions were advised through Q/A session. The Seminar was broadcasted live on Facebook and Zoom apart from being arranged at the Sialkot Chamber.
On July 10, 2021, H. E. Mr. Hamid Asghar Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan designated to the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Liberia visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. H.E. Mr. Hamid Khan and Mr. Ijaz Khokar, Former Chairman, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) was received by Mr. Qaiser Iqbal Baryar, President accompanied by Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, Mr. Ansar Aziz Puri, Vice President and Members of Executive Committee SCCI. During the meeting, H.E. appreciated the role of Sialkot in the Economic Development of the Country and having maximum share in the total export of Pakistan. Mr. Ambassador assured his full facilitations and availability in providing a display platform for exporters of Sialkot to showcase their products in prominent markets in Rabat and Marrakesh and gain global recognition. President SCCI appreciated the proposal of the Ambassador and requested H.E. Mr. Hamid A. Khan to form a committee “LOOK AFRICA” for promotion of trade in African countries using Made in Sialkot products.
On July 09, 2021, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry chaired a session on “Export Coaching Program” for business community of Sialkot led by Mr. Fizan Akbar, Chairman, Departmental Committee on SME/ Training & Young Entrepreneurs in Sialkot Chamber. Mr. Mian Muhammad Khalil, Chairman of Departmental Committee on Event Management and Liaison welcomed the participants. Mr. Fizan Akbar briefed the participants about key skills essential in setup and establishment of Export oriented business in Sialkot. Mr. Nouman Idrees Buttt, Mr. Muhammad Sarwar, Mr Qaiser Ikram Dodhy, Mr. Ahsan ul Haque, Members of Executive Committee SCCI and prominent business community of Sialkot also attended the session.
On July 08, 2021, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry was invited as Guest of Honor in “Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2021”at Centre of Excellence (Boys) Govt. Pilot Secondary School, Sialkot. Mr. Khuram Aslam addressed the students and congratulated them on passing to the next levels. He stressed that future of Pakistan lies in the hands of hardworking and intellectual youth. It is a weighty responsibility that rests on their shoulders. But we have no doubt that they are equal to the task.
On July 07, 2021, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry led a delegation of SCCI to have meeting with Mr. Syed Rafeo Bashir Shah, Executive Director General, Ministry of Commerce Islamabad. The delegation comprised of Mr. Qasim Malik, Sheikh Sohail Zafar, Mr. Muhammad Idris Members of Executive Committee SCCI. During the meeting, matters regarding attestation of documents from MOFA were mainly discussed.
On July 07, 2021, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry led a delegation of SCCI to have meeting with Muhammad Sualeh Ahmed Faruqui, Secretary Commerce, Ministry of Commerce Islamabad. The delegation comprised of Mr. Qasim Malik, Sheikh Sohail Zafar, Mr. Muhammad Idris Members of Executive Committee SCCI. During the meeting, matters of EDF, 5% sales tax, DLTL timebard issue, price fixation for surgical items, document attestation from MOFA were discussed in detail.
On July 07, 2021 A delegation of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President visited Embassy of Ukraine in Pakistan. The delegation comprised of Mr. Qasim Malik, Sheikh Sohail Zafar, Mr. Muhammad Idris Members of Executive Committee SCCI. The delegates were warmly welcomed by H.E. Mr. Markian Chuchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Dr. Olena Bordilovska, Second Secretary, Culture and Humanitarian issues and matters related to promotion of bilateral trade between both countries were discussed in the meeting.
On July 06, 2021, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry planted a tree sapling at the Government Graduate College Sialkot (Qila) under Plantation drive (Clean Green Pakistan) showing his commitment to a green future and doing a part in reversing climate change. Mr. Bilal Dar and Sheikh Zahid Hameed, Executive Committee Members SCCI and Mr. Ejaz Ghauree also planted a tree sapling.
On July 06, 2021, Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry inaugurated IT Lab at the Government Graduate College Sialkot (Qila). During the IT LAB Opening ceremony, Professor Khalil Toor, Principal, Govt. College Qila Sialkot thanked SCCI for its contributions in establishment of IT lab for the students of the said College. Mr. Bilal Dar and Sheikh Zahid Hameed, Executive Committee Members SCCI and Mr. Ejaz Ghauree were also present during the ceremony.
On July 05, 2021, A Joint Meeting of all Trade Bodies of Sialkot was held in Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss the issue of levy of 5% Withholding Sales Tax on Export Companies against purchases from unregistered persons. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, President SCCI. Wherein, he informed that SCCI and All Trade Bodies of Sialkot had been demanding its abolition for the last two years but despite all assurances, no amendment had been included in the Finance Act 2021. Ch. Ahmed Zulfiqar Hayat, Mr. Faisal Mahboob Sheikh, Mr. Qamar Munir, Mr. Zeeshan Tariq, Mr. Ejaz A. Khokhar, Ch. Raza Munir and Members of Executive committee SCCI were also present in the meeting.
