On April 8, 2021, An MOU signing Ceremony was held between SCCI and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Wherein, PIA joins hands with SCCI to offer exclusive services to corporate travelers, by introducing its corporate loyalty program; “Award+ Executive”. Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, President, SCCI welcomed honorable guest Mr. Aasim Imtiaz, District Manager, PIA. During the session, President SCCI endorsed PIA initiative to facilitate business community of Sialkot.
On April 8, 2021, Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, President, SCCI chaired a seminar on “CHINA PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR (CPEC) Project, Prospects and Opportunities” at Sialkot Chamber in collaboration with “Think Pakistan. President SCCI praised the CPEC project and also said that Sialkot Industrial Zone would be established within Golden Economic Triangle region comprising of Gujranwala, Sialkot & Wazirabad and Gujrat, which would have all the facilities and amenities for exporters which would be connected with CPEC. During the seminar, Miss Ayesha Syed, CEO, Skillerz Connect and Dr. Abdullah Yasir, GC University Lahore briefed about CPEC as a framework of regional connectivity. Dr. Ishtiaq Gondal, University of Punjab, Lahore mentioned that under the CPEC project, China has intended $76 billion dollar investment to rapidly upgrade Pakistan's required infrastructure and strengthen its economy by the construction of modern transportation networks, numerous energy projects, and special economic zones. President SCCI said that participants would have gained insights from the seminar about the strategic and economic significance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for both countries.
On the delightful occasion of Pakistan day, A cake cutting ceremony was held at SCCI under Departmental Committee on Religious and Cultural Affair on March 23, 2021. While addressing the participant Mr. Khuram Aslam, Senior Vice President, SCCI said that each year 23rd March was celebrated throughout the country with great passion to recall the accomplishments and untiring efforts of our forefathers and leaders for passing the Pakistan Resolution on 23rd March 1940, which laid the foundation of independence of separate country for Muslim of Sub-Continent to live with sovereignty and integrity.
On 18th March 2021, the 19th Finance Committee meeting of the Export Development Fund (EDF) Board, was held under the Chairmanship of Honorable Mr. Abdul Razzak Dawood, Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment, Ministry of Commerce, Pak Secretariat. Wherein, Senior Vice President SCCI, Mr. Khurram Aslam appreciated the approval of funds for the continuation of the Child Labor Elimination Program initiated for the Soccer Ball Industry of Sialkot.
On March 17,2021, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Investment and Trade/Chairman, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade visited SCCI, wherein, Mr. Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, President, SCCI discussed the issues faced by the Industry of Sialkot and also proposed solutions for promotion of exports of the region. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan assured him all possible support in early resolution of the issues. Mr. Khan also appreciated the role of SCCI for striving to enable a business-friendly environment for SME based Industry and accomplishing multiple self-sustained projects.
On March 12, 2021, a session was arranged on “Cost Reduction and Profit Maximization for Light Engineering sector” in collaboration with USAID SMEA and Asian Competitive Institute. Mr. Khurram Aslam, SVP, SCCI welcomed the guests Mr. Khurram Shahzad, USAID SMEA and Mr. Hasan Haider, CEO Asian Competitive Institute. The presentation was given to the members of this Chamber, about Lean Manufacturing System, Cost Reduction and Profit Maximization. Mr. Shahid Nadeem Mughal, Chairman, Departmental Committee on Engineering appreciated the efforts of USAID program that will improve the production efficiency of SMES in Pakistan. Mr. Khurram Shahzad briefed the house about the program offered by USAID under different scope of work. Mr. Hassan Haider presented and highlighted the benefits of Lean Management in the supply Chain management of Industry. The participants gathered useful information from the seminar.
